Three-time Grand Slam Poetry Champion, Anthony M. Flores, and two-time Grand Slam Poetry Champion, Amanda Flores, have been performing and teaching poetry for a combined twenty years. Individually, or as a duet, they have taken their spoken word show to more than two hundred middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, conferences, arts festivals, and other special events throughout the city. Together, they have represented San Antonio at the National Poetry Slam on twelve different occassions, and they have played venues ranging from bars and backyard barbecues to Harvard University and the famous Lincoln Center in New York City.
Anthony the Poet and Amanda Flores present live spoken word performances featuring their original award-winning poetry. These performances range from fifteen minutes to an hour and can be tailored to fit specific events or occassions.
Workshops will feature the writing & performance of slam poetry & spoken-word. Participants will prepare their own work during the workshop, which will culminate with a public performance of all work created during the workshop.
Anthony the Poet studied Creative Writing at the University of Pennsylvania from 1986-1990 and Amanda D. Flores graduated from Trinity University in 2010 with a degree in English and minor in Creative Writing. They have been performing their spoken word show and conducting poetry workshops throughout the San Antonio community for a combined twenty years.
These spoken word shows have been performed, in numerous variations, at more than two hundred venues throughout the last ten years including middle schools, high schools, colleges, universities, conferences, arts festivals, and national competitions throughout the Unites States.
Host venue or organization must provide their own sound system, if necessary. This includes a basic sound system, including a microphone and an up-right stand.
